Taking the Initiative to Lead
There are multiple situations where leadership positions may present themselves. Whenever this occurs, I am confident in my ability to lead, however, I am always cautious to volunteer immediately. I am cautious with certain events because there may be someone else who is more passionate about the topic and may have a better skill set for that specific project. I think this is the key to any leadership role. The individual who leads must have a true passion for the event and must exhibit excellent leadership skills. In a situation where I am passionate about a certain event and can set aside ample time and resources for the event, I love to take a leadership role. Further, when I do take a leadership role, I need to remember the critical components of a leader, such as, respect, communication, integrity, responsibility, the ability to listen, humility, and staying true to my word. These are just a few of the characteristics that I always try to keep in mind when leading my team.
